Featured Projects : BrightStar Care

BrightStar Care began as a home care company in 2002, but franchise owners Jeff and Susan Tews wanted to expand the company’s vision of delivering person-centered care of a higher standard. BrightStar Senior Living® was created as a service care model that is small and approachable, one that replicates a home-like experience. After completing their first location in the Madison, Wisconsin area, they wanted to make adjustments to the design as well as improvements to the standard furniture and finishes package in order to continue to refine this new model.

Schroeder Solutions partnered with Aga Artka Interior Design to offer BrightStar a team with finish selection, furniture specification, procurement and installation expertise guided by a savvy senior living design professional for the completion of their second location in Waunakee, Wisconsin.

While the previous project had established an aesthetic standard, Aga Artka worked with the Schroeder Solutions design team to upgrade the level of finishes and application of furnishings to better suit a senior living environment. Finish adjustments were made to address the special needs of the residents, such as lighter paint selections for better visual contrast and minimal flooring transitions to reduce tripping hazards. Specification upgrades were also made to support maintenance and durability. This included the selection of a manmade quartz for countertops and a wood-look metal frame for dining room chairs.

The team also worked with the client to explore new design solutions that enhance their service care model, such as creating a more impactful entry sequence for resident units. Resilient flooring inside the unit door was continued beyond the threshold to create a distinct entryway at each unit. This front porch appeal was enhanced with the simple application of an accent color at each door. In addition to elevating the unit experience, an art program was recommended to infuse the interior with locally inspired photography. These nature inspired pieces enhance the desired home-like quality and deepen the connection to the surrounding community.

The Schroeder Solutions team worked tirelessly to establish the necessary accounts with the desired manufacturers and to insure a seamless procurement, delivery and installation process.
